Bearcats vs. Governors Preview

facebooktwitterreddit

On September 3rd, the Austin Peay Governors will come into Nippert Stadium hoping to knock off the Bearcats… problem is, it won’t happen!  After a dismal 2-9 record last year, the Governors will look to bounce back against a stiff UC defense that looks to prove that last year was just a hiccup.

This should be a good opening test for the Bearcats rush defense as the Governors bring in an offense that averaged 167 yards per game last year.  With two running backs that neared a 1,000 yards rushing each, a fresh set of legs can continue to punish a defense if they can’t be stopped early.

On the opposite side of the ball, the Governors’ defense was torched for 38.7 points per game while giving up over 200 yards per game on the ground alone.  This should be a great day for Big East 1st Team Selection, Isaiah Pead and the rest of the Bearcats rushing attack.

My prediction is an opening day romp for the Bearcats.  I’m pushing for 6 cannon blasts altogether!

Final score:  UC Bearcats 42 – Austin Peay 17.
