Kevin Youkilis Snubbed From All-Star Game

Earlier this week, we pushed for Cincinnati Bearcats’ own Kevin Youkilis a roster spot in the year’s MLB All-Star Game. Unfortunately our efforts fell just short and Kevin has been denied a rightful spot at this year’s game.

The two 3rd basemen that did make the team were: Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees and Adrian Beltre of the Texas Rangers.  Let’s take a look into the stats to see if we are missing something.

Kevin Youkilis: .270 Avg. with 11 Homeruns, 57 RBIs, and an impressive .393 On Base Percentage.  He has also made the transition from 1st Base to 3rd Base flawlessly while compiling a .972 Fielding Percentage with just 5 errors.

Alex Rodriguez: .295 Avg. with 13 Homeruns, 52 RBIs and a .369 On Base Percentage.  In the field, Alex has compiled a .978 Fielding Percentage with 4 errors.

Adrian Beltre: .273 Avg. with 16 Homeruns, 64 RBIs and a .318 On Base Percentage.  In the field, Adrian has booted around the ball quite frequently this year, compiling a .955 Fielding Percentage with 11 errors.

The statistics speak for themselves when saying that Kevin Youkilis was definitely an All-Star Roster snub.  I just hope that next year, Bearcats fans and the Red Sox Nation will be able to see their 3rd baseman in the All-Star Game where he should be.
