I’m really disappointed to hear that the Keg of Nails game will be a noon game. Keep in mind this isn’t some conspiracy by Mike Brown because the Bengals play the next day. The TV Networks choose the game times and thus opted for UC-Louisville to be the Big East Game of the Week, which is always at noon. This according to a Tom Gelehrter tweet, who is always on top of this kind of stuff:

This is discouraging for a couple of reasons:

  1. I’ll be AT this game and it will be my first Bearcats game downtown since the near-Ohio State upset almost a decade ago. I knew a 7:30 pm kickoff was unrealistic but I was at least hoping for the game to start later in the afternoon.
  2. Better get up early to start tailgating. With a noon gametime you can expect a lot of grills set up early to cook some eggs and bacon. Ok I guess that’s not such a bad thing. I still hate waking up early, especially when I’m driving in late the night before from Chicago.
  3. You can expect the crowd to be 5,000 – 7,000 people smaller because a.) fans driving from Louisville (even though only 1.5 hours away) are less likely to wake up early and drive up and b.) same reason for casual fans around Cincinnati.
  4. Night/late afternoon games downtown are just so much cooler.
