Bearcats Football Ranked in Coaches and AP Polls

There was a lot of chatter yesterday after Cincinnati’s come from behind win at South Florida that the Bearcats might end the weekend ranked. Well those predictions were proved true as UC is now ranked 23rd in the Coaches Poll with 159 points and 24th in the AP Poll with 71 points. They are the highest ranked Big East team with West Virginia the only other conference team ranked and placed a spot behind the Bearcats. In addition, with news that Cincinnati Men’s Basketball team will begin the season ranked 22nd, UC is one of only four schools (Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Michigan) to have both programs ranked. With the Bearcats on a bye next week it will be unclear if they can hold onto their spot as other teams will have an opportunity to jump them with teams dropping out of the rankings at the same time. One thing’s clear. If Cincinnati beats Pitt they will most certainly be ranked heading into the huge matchup the following week against West Virginia. Look for Paul Brown Stadium to be rocking if the Bearcats roll in there 7 – 1 ranked in the Top 15 or even 20.
