It was a scary first half of basketball from the ‘Cats. Thankfully, Sean Kilpatrick and Dion Dixon were amazing. Let’s get to Killa first, who found a spot on the floor and made 4 threes from a single spot on the floor. He exploded in the 2nd half along with the rest of the team when he found a spot beyond the arc from where he simply couldn’t miss. The sophomore finished the night with a season high 22 points. Not to be outdone was senior Dion Dixon who drained 19 points with a bunch of threes himself from NBA range. The big men on the team like Yancy Gates, Cheikh Mbodj, and Justin Jackson had a rough night. Georgia crowed the passing lanes well and prevented the perimeter shooters to get the ball inside. Jackson and Mbodj even fouled out for the first time this season. They are each veteran players and should shake that off. As a team, the Bearcats looked horrible in the 1st half but turned it around after halftime playing aggressively on both offense and defense. Cincinnati outscored Georgia by 15 points in the 2nd half en route to their first road win this year. UC is now 5 – 2 with a huge matchup against Xavier in the Crosstown Shootout next Saturday.
