A myriad of Bearcats were in action this past weekend in the fourth season of NFL Preseason play.
Armon Binns: Only had a catch for 11 yards but ran with the first team. It’s incredible just how fast Binns has gone from practice squad to basically the starters. This is increidble to see for the former Bearcat.
Kevin Huber: With Cincinnati’s offense sputtering he got a ton of reps booting 8 punts for an average of 46.5 yards. Ho hum for Mr. Huber.
Vidal Hazelton: Caught one pass for 14 yards.
J.K. Schaffer: Another workman-like effort from the star middle linebacker who notched three tackles against the Baltimore Ravens.
D.J. Woods: The former UC wide receiver had an overall better performance this week. He’s been really establishing himself on special teams with a game-changing 51 yard kickoff return against the Cardinals. He was also catching punt returns for the Titans. Woods did cough the ball up once, which plagued him in his last two years at Cincinnati.
Mike Windt: The Chargers long snapper notched a tackle against the Vikings Friday night.
Adrien Robinson: Caught a couple of passes for 14 yards in the New York Giants’ failed comeback drive against the Chicago Bears.
Brent Celek: Caught a pair of passes for 15 yards including a touchdown for the Eagles.
Mardy Gilyard: Notched a pass for 8 yards and also recorded a tackle.
Trent Cole: Didn’t grab a tackle but did recover a fumble for the Eagles.
Isaiah Pead: Did a little bit of everything for the Rams Saturday night; 9 rushes for 22 yards, 2 receptions for 4 yards, and returned 3 kickoffs for an average of 31.3 yards. That included a break-out 47 yard return.
Brandon Underwood: Picked up a tackle against the Detroit Lions.
Alex Daniels: Grabbed a tackle against the Houston Texans.
Connor Barwin: Had an unusually quiet night with just a tackle against the Saints.
Haruki Nakamura: Added just two tackles to his preseason but the important thing is that he is running with the one’s for the Carolina Panthers. He was primarily a backup at Baltimore but has found a starting role at strong safety with the Panthers. It’s about time someone recognized his potential.
