Bearcat of the Week: Sean Kilpatrick

Let’s just keep the BOTW Award right here with Sean Kilpatrick. He has been outstanding over the past few games. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say he single-handedly won the Global Sports Classic for the Cincinnati Bearcats. At the very least he spearheaded UC’s victories.

Against the Campbell Camels earlier last week Kilpatrick was just the third leading scorer but led all players with 10 rebounds. His 15-10 line made him UC’s first player with a double-double this season. That was definitely a balanced performance but on opening night in Las Vegas is when he really shined. Killa dropped an insane 32 points on the Iowa State Cyclones leading all players by a wide margin. He set a career high against ISU breaking the 29-point mark he set just two games prior against North Carolina A&T. Even more impressive was his free throw shooting. For years Mick Cronin’s squads have been criticized for shooting poorly from the stripe. Kilpatrick squashed that chatter by dropping all 16 shots Friday night, clinching UC’s victory. On Sunday in the championship game Cincinnati’s scoring machine was quieted, but only relatively to the monster performance the night prior. He still knocked down a handful of shots for 16 points and 8 boards, again leading the Bearcats in this area. In three games he’s continued to set the bar higher and higher, which certainly indicates he’s going to have another outstanding season.
