Whit Babcock tweeted out a teaser last night giving the fanbase a hint about a future opponent that would be added to the football/basketball schedules. Well the much anticipated announcement has been made, and that program is Michigan.
On the football side, Cincinnati will travel to Ann Arbor on September 9, 2017. There is no return trip scheduled (not a surprise) but UC will pocket $1.2 million for making the trip. On the basketball side, it’s your standard home-and-home. A date hasn’t been set quite yet but per the Bearcats’ official website both games will be played sometime between the 2015-16 and 2018-19 seasons.
Inking the Michigan Wolverines on Cincinnati’s football and basketball schedule is exciting! I’m a little disappointed Whit couldn’t talk UM into returning the favor and visiting a newly renovated Nippert Stadium but snagging $1.2 million in the deal is nothing to cry about. For basketball, I’ve been itching to get a piece of the Wolverines ever since they knocked off Cincinnati in the Final Four of the 1992 NCAA Tournament. Now UC finally has the opportunity to exact some revenge on Michigan after two and a half decades of seething, at least in my twisted mind.
Go Bearcats!
