The American Athletic Conference has released game times and channels for a few select matchups in the upcoming football season. Two of Cincinnati’s games were revealed:

  • August 31st – Purdue – Noon (ESPN U)
  • September 14th – Northwestern State – 7 pm (ESPN3)

Technically, the kickoff time against the NSU Demons was released ages ago but it was today that we learned of its placement on ESPN 3. Given that this is a matchup with a FCS program, this isn’t surprising. The 7 pm kickoff will surely help attendance in a game where everyone knows the Bearcats will dominate and the lackluster opponent might turn off some fans. What was a slight disappointment is the Purdue kickoff. Nooners just suck for college football attendance and especially so at UC. A night game would have been ideal to open the season. But beggars can’t be choosers and given the excitement built up since the Tommy Tuberville hiring, Nippert should be quite the imposing environment that day.

So that’s five game times down, with seven to go. In addition to Purdue and Northwestern State, Cincinnati’s matchup with Illinois on Saturday September 7th is at noon, Memphis on October 30th is at 8:30 pm, and the Keg of Nails game against Louisville on December 5th is at 7:30 pm. Other than those games, the details of the rest of the schedule have yet to be released.
