Some scheduling news came out today that is particularly important to Bearcats fans and Ohio college football fans in general. Cincinnati’s matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes on September 8th, 2018 has been postponed almost exactly a year to September 7th, 2019.

I’m not sure what your plans were for early September of 2018. Maybe you’re looking to get a new hover car or expand your wardrobe of silver, unisex jumpsuits. I hear the new ones will have a grey stripe down the side. Whatever they were, I hope it didn’t involve heading up I-70 to Columbus to watch the Bearcats play the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium.

It’s unclear just what the reasons are for the move. With Ohio State scheduled to travel to TCU and host North Carolina and Cincinnati at home, the Buckeyes may have been looking to lighten their non-conference slate. Moving their matchup with the Bearcats will allow them to add a MAC or FCS program. Obviously that’s just me speculating but if that was the reason, I’d believe it.

For Cincinnati their 2018 football schedule now has home games against the Miami (OH) Redhawks and Ohio Bobcats. They still have two open spots to fill. With OSU gone, I’d like Whit Babcock to add a marquee team in their place. Easy said than done, obviously. For 2019, the Bearcats will now travel to Ohio State along with their biennial trip to Oxford. There are also two open spots for that season, both of which will probably (hopefully) be home games.
