The battle for the Keg of Nails couldn’t have been closer than tonight.

We at Cincy on the Prowl reiterated how similar the Bearcats and Cardinals were on the football field. Offensively, Cincinnati and Louisville boast some of the best units in the AAC and defensively the teams are #1 and #2 in the conference. Statistically, the Bearcats and Cardinals were about dead even tonight, totaling 432 total yards for Louisville to 428 for Cincinnati. So it was fitting that at the end of they day this game came down to overtime just like it had last season.

The key play in my mind was a circus pass from Teddy Bridgewater on a critical 2nd and long early in the 4th quarter. With the pocket collapsing on him, as it was for most of the second half, the Lousiville quarterback heaved a miracle pass to the corner of the endzone. It was caught by wide receiver Damian Copeland for a touchdown.

Simply unreal.

That play pretty much exemplifies the game tonight. Neither team really outplayed the other but Louisville came up with the necessarily plays to emerge victorious this time around, much like they did last season.

Enjoy your wooden keg full of sawdust, Cardinals. Hashtag, I’mNotBitter
