The Bearcats got that all important first conference win last night over the SMU Mustangs. Here are some reactions from across the Net.

Bearcats Open 2014 With A Win

"The Bearcats feasted at the foul line, scoring 23 of 65 points there in their 65-59 win over SMU. The win was powered by another fantastic game from Justin Jackson. His double double streak ended, but the senior put up a game high 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 steals and 3 assists. He was 5-9 from the field and 7-10 from the foul line. It was another in a string of monster performances. He’s been outstanding."

Bearcats Win Opening AAC Contest Against SMU 65-57

"As is customary for any Cincinnati game, this was a grind. But the Bearcats did put SMU under wraps in the second half behind suffocating defense and the play of the new and improved Justin Jackson. The senior who is finally realizing the vastness of his talent once again led the Bearcats in both scoring and rebounding, More than that JJ had five blocks, five steals, a pair of assists and no turnovers."

UC Bearcats top SMU for first AAC win, 65-57

"UC led by two at intermission and never trailed in the second half, leading by as many as 11. But the Mustangs made the Bearcats grind out the victory on a night when they shot only 36.5 percent and made only 4 of 16 from long range. UC was outrebounded by two, but forced 17 turnovers and made SMU work for every basket."

SMU men fade late, drop AAC opener to Cincinnati, 65-57

"Markus Kennedy was the only Mustang to reach double figures, finishing with 12 points as SMU (10-3) was held to its second-lowest point total of the season. The Mustangs saw their winning streak snapped at five games."
