Former Tennessee Linebacker Commit Kevin Mouhon Signs With Cincinnati

The major news of National Signing Day comes in the form of linebacker Kevin Mouhon. The high 3-star/low 4-star bruiser from Norcross, Georgia was among the top 5 recruits to keep an eye on today due to his recent decommitment from Tennessee. Mouhon visited Cincinnati and his brother with a far more buzzworthy first name on January 17th. Since then he’s steadily been leaning to UC. And he’s made it official today, accepting the offer from the Bearcats over several Power 5 schools including Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame, Ohio State, among two-dozen more. Mouhon has signed with Cincinnati this morning.

OVERVIEW

Mouhon is an extremely high level prospect that plays like one on the football field. He clocks in at roughly 6’1″ 223 lbs but moves very well for his size. To me, that’s the most impressive aspect of his game as we’ve seen this past season with the Bearcats how lack of speed at the linebacker position can really hinder a defense. Mouhon’s ability to track down ball carriers went a long way to him piling up 200 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, and 3.5 tackles for loss as a senior this past season. The stats, the highlight tape, and the measureables all add up to an exceptional get for Tommy Tuberville and his staff.

OUTLOOK

The 6’1″ 223 lbs middle linebacker has the raw skills to see playing time as a true freshman. Additionally, the Bearcats are mighty thin at the Mike in 2014 with senior Jeff Luc the likely starter and his backup yet to be determined. So it wouldn’t surprise me to see Mouhon forgo his redshirt and play immediately during his first year on campus.
