After the loss to SMU on Saturday evening, the Cincinnati Bearcats were punished in the AP Poll by being dropped 3 spots to 10th. They received 970 votes.

This wasn’t all too surprising. After all, it’s not like UC was going to climb to 5th or 6th following a loss but at the same time the drop wasn’t too drastic. You can thank the win over #22 UConn on Thursday night for that. Had the Bearcats swept the week and we would have seen them in the top-5 more than likely but if they had lost both games Cincinnati probably would have fallen to 15th. As such, keeping UC in the top-10 is a fair slotting for this team.

The Coaches Poll will be released soon and I’m sure we’ll see a similar trend with those voters.
