The AP Poll was released earlier today, with the Cincinnati Bearcats dropping to 10th, and the Coaches Poll has followed suit. These voters have tabbed UC 11th with 467 votes, down four spots from the previous week.

Like in the AP, voters in the Coaches Poll knocked Cincinnati after they got manhandled by SMU on Saturday but kept them afloat due to the win over 22nd ranked UConn on Thursday. Again, I don’t disagree with this slotting for the Bearcats. They deserved to lose some ground based on their performance a couple of days ago but not as much as to knock them out of the top-15 or top-20. This a team that has top-10 potential but just ran into the wrong situation on Saturday (frenzied road environment, strong home opponent, less than 48 hours rest between games). The Bearcats have a week off which will allow them the time to rest up and prepare for the Houston Cougars on Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully we see a more focused, and most importantly healthier, Cincinnati team that will return to their winning ways.
