Sean Kilpatrick has been a man on a mission this season. Now, I’m not sure if that mission involved him earning 1st-Team All-American honors but the UC guard has put up monstrous numbers in his senior year. Kilpatrick has accounted for a full 30% of Cincinnati’s points this season, ranking him among the best in college basketball with players like Creighton’s Doug McDermott. On the year, SK has paced Cincinnati in points (20.9) and assists (2.5) per game. Both represent career highs for the senior as he has hoisted the team on his back to lead them to an AAC championship.

As a result, whether he likes it or not (he does), Kilpatrick has appeared on a several 1st-Team All-American ballots from major media outlets around the country. Specifically, NBC Sports and Sporting News have cast their vote for the UC senior. Per Mick Cronin’s brother, Sporting News in the outlet that is weighted very heavily when the NCAA finally makes their decision this week. That certainly bodes well for Kilpatrick.

So we’ll just have to wait and see but there are encouraging signs pointing towards UC’s prolific scorer to be Cincinnati’s first 1st-Team All-American since Steve Logan in 2002. That, along with him becoming only the second Bearcat to post 2,000 career points, will go a long way to getting Kilpatrick’s jersey hung in the Fifth Third Arena rafters.
