For Cincinnati Bearcat quarterback Gunner Kiel is has been a long journey from being the top rated QB three years ago. Kiel has been the topic of media discussion due to is school switching fiasco (Indiana, LSU, Notre Dame), but he’s finally settled in at Cincinnati which is a great thing for Bearcats fans.

While at Notre Dame we all thought he’d be the quarterback of the future for “Traitor” Kelly, yes I through a jab at him, but thanks for helping get our facilities a lot better, Everett Golson played well leading the Irish to the National Championship game and the rest was history. Golson only being a redshirt freshman while Kiel was a true freshman meant he would be a highly rated backup for a least one more year and that’s if Golson left for the NFL Draft after his redshirt sophomore year.

After hearing the Bearcats had a shot to land Kiel, I personally got super excited, but I didn’t want to get to high *not in using drugs folks* because you can be let down when you don’t take rumors at a grain of salt. The rumors had been right has he picked the Bearcats, from my time following the Bearcats we haven’t had a QB rated as high as Kiel ever step on campus. We have had a few solid QB’s hold down the helm salute to Guidugli, Mauk and Pike.

Kiel played well in the spring game at Paul Brown Stadium, throwing for 300 yards. While they haven’t made Kiel the starting QB yet, all signs point to him being under center or shotgun against Toledo September 12th Paul Brown Stadium. It’s been a long journey for Kiel, but this year the sophomore QB will get his time to shine and Bearcats fans everywhere should be pretty excited.
