Tonight is the NFL Draft, that magical time in the year when early-20 year olds become millionaires at the ring of a phone and I’m reminded of just how old I’m getting.
Will we hear the names of some former Cincinnati Bearcats players sometime over the next few days? Well no one besides maybe a few choice people high up in the front office of NFL organizations know the answer to that. But we can surmise those ‘Cats who they will be targeting. Over the last week, Cincy on the Prowl has put together draft profiles for four players from the team we think have as strong a shot as any to get their name called this weekend.
Tight end Blake Annen and offensive guard Sam Longo look to be the most likely candidates. While I don’t believe either will go on day one or two, there’s a very real possibility one or both will be selected in the final four rounds. Given their respectable size and athleticism for their respective positions, Annen and Longo would provide any team nice depth with the potential of becoming starters sometime down the road. Then there’s quarterback Brendon Kay and Greg Blair. Their careers at Cincinnati were exceptional but they probably won’t get selected this weekend. Still, there’s a strong possibility they receive an invitation to a NFL camp.
