After making the rounds for the last couple of weeks, Elijah Stewart found it difficult leaving his last visit without giving a commitment. Unfortunately that school was USC, his second stop after giving Cincinnati a look a couple of weeks ago. Stewart will be a Trojan this fall.

Adding the prolific scoring wing would have been the icing on the cake in a recruiting class that was heavily focused on offense. Cronin of coursed signed Gary Clark, Quadri Moore, and Coreontae DeBerry to add some pop to his front court. He also accepted Octavius Ellis back into the program. Finally, Cronin added Farad Cobb to improve Cincinnati’s scoring from the point guard position. Bringing in Elijah Stewart, who averaged 19.9 points per game as a senior in high school, would have taken this class over the top.

Even so, it doesn’t take away from a group of players who collectively greatly improves the Bearcats’ ability to actually put the ball in the basket in the years to come. So I wish Stewart the best of luck with the hometown Trojans, that is unless the PAC-12 opts to extend an invite to UC which could be any day now given how unpredictable conference realignment is.

For some closing thoughts on the situation, we turn to Elijah Stewart’s uncle.

Yikes. Upcoming get togethers for that family are going to be mighty awkward.
