Sean Kilpatrick Leads 76ers In Scoring In Summer League Debut

Former Cincinnati Bearcats guard Sean Kilpatrick made his Las Vegas Summer League debut last night and led the Philadelphia 76ers in scoring with 20 points.

The UC star was in the opening lineup for Philly in their game against the Utah Jazz and played with the same kind of tenacity and athleticism as he did in Clifton. Kilpatrick was white hot from the onset, dropping 11 points in the first quarter alone. He finished shooting 7-13 from the field including 3-5 from beyond the three point arc. And, of course, he was also perfect from the free throw line. All of that propelled him to pace the 76ers in scoring on the evening.

This type of performance wasn’t all that unexpected from Kilpatrick, who averaged over 21 points per game as a senior at Cincinnati. He went undrafted but was probably the 64th or 65th best prospect in the 2014 NBA Draft, just outside the 60 players who were actually selected. But like I mentioned, getting undrafted isn’t all that much different from going in the 2nd round with a non-guaranteed contract. Kilpatrick’s 20 points last night effectively prove that he’s ready to take his game to the next level and is taking every step by little step to earning his way onto Philadelphia’s regular roster this fall.
