Sean Kilpatrick Scores 7 Points In Summer League Regular Season Finale

Former Cincinnati Bearcats guard Sean Kilpatrick scored 7 points in the final game of the regular season of the 2014 NBA Summer League. For the second straight game the UC star didn’t start but did see over 13 minutes of court time, going 2-5 from the field and was perfect from the free throw line.

The Summer League is to the NBA what the preseason is to the NFL, effectively an extended tryout for players who are on the cusp of earning a roster spot like Kilpatrick. The former Cincinnati guard impressed in his debut, leading the 76ers in scoring with 20 points. But he didn’t start in his final two games, which indicates that the coaches are trying to learn about the other Philadelphia players and Kilpatrick has earned his roster spot or they have given up on him. Considering the format of the Summer League (again, a tryout), I’d bet on the former.

The 2014 Summer League playoffs begin today and both Kilpatrick and Justin Jackson will have opportunities to polish their resumes. Jackson’s Charlotte Hornets take on the Dallas Mavericks at 4:30 pm EST and Kilpatrick’s 76ers face the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 pm EST.
