Former Cincinnati Bearcats Sean Kilpatrick and Justin Jackson advanced past the first round of the 2014 NBA Summer League Playoffs.

Jackson’s Charlotte Hornets survived a fourth quarter surge from the Dallas Mavericks to win 82-81. The former UC power forward saw his first court time since a July 11th loss to the Golden State Warriors but didn’t record a point. On the flip side, Sean Kilpatrick shined for the Philadelphia 76ers in their romping of the LA Lakers. The former Bearcats guard dropped 19 points in the opening round of the Summer League Playoffs. It was yet another game where he led the 76ers in scoring. Kilpatrick didn’t start but logged over 26 minutes of court time and shot 47% from the field including a trio of made threes. Continuing these performances will only help his cause as he fights to make his way onto Philadelphia’s regular roster.

Jackson’s Hornets and Kilpatrick’s 76ers are in action again today. Charlotte faces the New Orleans Pelicans (snicker) at 4:00 pm EST and Philadelphia takes on the Chicago Bulls at 10:00 pm EST. Best of luck to the former Bearcats!
