Georgia Linebacker Quintin Hampton Flips From Cincinnati To Central Florida

Cincinnati Bearcats verbal Quintin Hampton from Georgia has switched his commitment to the Central Florida Knights. The linebacker visited UCF earlier this week and according to Rivals, flipped his intentions shortly thereafter:

Hampton was rated just a high 2-star/low 3-star prospect but he put up the numbers that suggested he was underrated by the major recruiting services. As a hybrid linebacker/defensive end for Colquitt County, he compiled 132 tackles as a junior last season, including 32 tackles for loss and a whopping 19.5 sacks.

So in my opinion this is quite the blow for the Bearcats’ 2015 recruiting class.

Yes, you’ll drive yourself crazy worrying about losing one player out of what will be 20-25 commitments when it’s all said and done. But Hampton had the profile and resume of diamond in the rough, which has been a staple of UC football in the past (see: Schaffer, JK). As such, like with Antonio Howard on Monday, I wish him the best of luck but hope against all hope that he changes his mind.
