Cincinnati Bearcats Schedule Home-And-Home Series With Indiana Hoosiers

The Cincinnati Bearcats and Indiana Hoosiers have agreed to a home-and-home football series. UC will visit Bloomington in 2021, with IU making the return trip to Clifton in 2022. ESPN’s Brett McMurphy broke the news this morning.

So it appears Cincinnati’s tradition of scheduling home-and-homes with the dregs of the Big Ten continues. Sure Ohio State and Michigan will never visit Nippert Stadium but it seems the bottomfeeders are willing and able. This past season the Bearcats wrapped up their series will the Illinois Fighting Illini and hosted the Boilermakers in 2014 as well. They’re also in line to visit Purdue in 2016. Now, Whit Babcock was able to ink a deal with the Nebraska, a far cry from the likes of the Illini and Boilermakers, but Cincinnati is scheduled to host the Cornhuskers in 2025.

I’d bank on America placing a man on Mars before Nebraska actually lives up to that part of the agreement.

But back to Indiana, this is a home-and-home deal that should have been signed years ago. The Hoosiers are a relatively local program in relation to Cincinnati, with several thousand alumni living in the area. It’s only natural for both teams to hook up on the football and basketball field more often than once every decade and a half. Technically by the time UC and Indiana hook up it will have been over two decades since they last played on the gridiron. Regardless, this is an agreement that benefits both parties and is one we as Bearcats fans should be excited about.
