That’s where the preseason polls and that perception comes into play. Using the USA Today top 25, there were 0 ‘other 5′ conference schools in the top 25. From Florida State to Washington, all 25 are power conference schools. Strike one off the bat already for Cincinnati and the rest of the others. Sure, this poll is meaningless, but the perception is already out that none of these teams are as good as the others.
Schneider is one of the most decorated swimmers in UC history. He remains the most recent NCAA National Champion at UC, having captured the NCAA title in the 50 freestyle as a senior in 2010. In addition to being a national champion, Schneider was a five-time All-American, a seven-time BIG EAST Conference champion and a two-time BIG EAST Male Swimmer of the Year. He left Clifton with five school records, all of which he continues to hold, in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly.
The 18 Bearcats lacrosse players were among 2,091 honorees in the BIG EAST for academic performance during the 2013-14 academic year. Student-athletes which participated in a league-sponsored sport and posted a 3.00 grade-point average for the year were eligible as long as they had completed consecutive academic semesters at their present institution (junior transfer Michelle Platz completed just the spring semester at UC).
Being frank I think that we can all agree that going to a game a Fifth Third Arena generally sucks, especially if you are seating in the mezzanine. Its hard to get into and out of, simply getting around the building is a massive pain in the butt. The concessions are inadequate for the crowds that it serves, ditto for the restrooms. The seats are cramped and uncomfortable with weird sight lines. When the game starts it’s a different matter, because when the game is being played the building is secondary. All of those are massive impediments to getting people to keep coming back. All of the things mentioned above have one thing in common, they can be remedied with physical changes.
It’s not quite like a slot machine, but the combinations that have formed from Reds manager Bryan Price’s starting lineups this season have often seemed as plentiful. On Saturday against the Marlins, the Reds fielded their 87th different lineup in 110 games — not counting the pitcher’s spot.
