Recapping Cincinnati Bearcats Training Camp Day 2

The Cincinnati Bearcats have completed day 2 of training camp at Higher Ground in West Harrison, Indiana. Again, no pads or shells but another NCAA mandated “warm up”, of sorts. There’ll be a few more days of these before the bodies start flying. Below are the major nuggets from day 2.

  • Walk-on Rob Rice suffered a knee injury in yesterday’s practice and due to the severity will be held out for the season. It’s discouraging enough when this happens to a scholarship player. However walk-ons don’t have a guaranteed spot on the roster. Well, they’re not as secure as those on scholarship. Hopefully Tommy Tuberville sees fit to give Rice another opportunity next season.
  • On the brighter side, it sounds like former Texas Tech defensive end signee Chase Robison stopped by Higher Ground this week. He will be deciding between Cincinnati and Arkansas State in the next day or so. Robison transferred from Texas Tech to Auburn shortly after Tuberville left for UC but it seems he’s on the move again and has an eye for his former coach.

And of course there are videos from camp via the excellent folks in the UC media department. First up is an interview with wide receiver Alex Chisum, who is attempting to come back from an injury that nagged him all of last season.

Also, sophomore defensive end Silverberry Mouhon has nothing but nice things to say about his talented brother Kevin, who is a true freshman this year.
