Cincinnati Bearcats Training Camp Day 4 News & Notes

Day 4 of the Cincinnati Bearcats training camp at Higher Ground in West Harrison, Indiana is in the books, which means it’s the last day without full pads for the team. They’ll break out the full pads tomorrow but you can see the intensity ramping up at camp with the players in shells, as depicted by the helmet cam Nick Temple strapped on today. You can take a look at the end of this post but first a few news and notes from today’s session of training camp.

  • One common theme from the past past week or so has been Chris Moore’s continued stellar play. He’s been a bit overshadowed by towering receiver Mekale McKay. But no player caught more touchdowns that Moore last season and while UC’s 6’6″ wide out might garner most of the attention, the Tampa, Florida product is very much the same dangerous deep threat.
  • It appears that Munchie Legaux is getting plenty of work in non-contact drills. Tommy Tuberville continues to emphasize that there’s a “quarterback race” with his signal callers. Sure it’s a race but one Gunner Kiel is winning Secretariat-style. Nothing short of a major injury is going to prevent him from leading the first team offense out onto the field against Toledo on September 12th.
  • There’s like a 70% chance Tuberville has personally attempted herding a glaring of cats.
  • Rod Moore, who was recruited as a runningback but played cornerback last year, has returned to the backfield. He is fighting tooth and nail with Hosey Williams and Tion Green for reps. I’d believe Tuberville in this instance when he mentions a tight race at runningback.

And the Nick Temple helmet cam, which I feel like should be a mandatory addition for all collegiate equipment.
