Report: Ohio State QB Braxton Miller Re-Injures Shoulder, Could Be Lost For Season

Breaking news this Monday evening that Ohio State senior quarterback Braxton Miller has re-injured his throwing shoulder, putting his 2014 season in jeopardy. The Buckeyes signal caller was building on a Heisman-like junior campaign in which he accounted for over 3,000 yards and 36 total touchdowns last year. Needless to say, this certainly impedes OSU’s ability to contend for the National Championship.

But for Cincinnati’s purposes, it’s not easy to articulate exactly what this means. I think our very own Spencer Tuckerman puts it best.

Well said.

Without Heisman contender Braxton Miller leading Urban Meyer’s offensive juggernaut, the Goliath that is Ohio State doesn’t look all that menacing. The Buckeyes are still a tough nut to crack (PUN!) but certainly a more manageable opponent. However it raises the stakes for the Bearcats. UC fans have been instigating the Buckeyes for years and now that they have a chance to take them down without their best player, Cincinnati basically has to win. Can you imagine the retort from Ohio State fans if they win with a freshman at the helm? “We won by 10 without our star quarterback? Imagine how bad the slaughter would have been if he were healthy?”

Winning and facing constant excuses is a far more preferable hand to be dealt (obviously, they won) than losing and getting further disregarded by the overarching land grant university in Columbus.
