Nippert Stadium Construction Update: September 17th, 2014

As UC’s football team continues to battle for AAC supremacy at Paul Brown Stadium, construction continues on the permanent home of the Bearcats Nippert Stadium.

The renovation has gone so smoothly that it appears Tom Gelherter can now host interviews from the club level. I’m sure there will be several additions between now and the finished product next fall (like, you know, walls) but it’s encouraging that we’ve gotten to the point that people can actually stand on that level. Still, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done before the construction crew can finally but a bow on the project.

Stray Observations

  • A #HottestCollegeInAmerica banner hangs from the second level. $10 says Santa Ono put that up himself.
  • Believe it or not, after what seems like eons of work, they’re only about two and half months away from completing the steel infrastructure portion of the press box. Perfect timing before winter hits.
  • On September 22nd the East concourse will be blocked off so the crew can begin construction on the lesser-publicized portion of the Nippert renovations. Essentially they’ll be widening the concourse and adding restrooms and concession stands, all changes implemented with improving the fan experience in mind.
