Munchie Legaux Makes Return, Sees Action Against Toledo

Friday night the Bearcats kicked the Toledo Rockets butt 58-34 and Gunner Kiel, Mekale McKay and crew put on a great show. But another great headline was the return of Munchie Legaux.

Legaux sustained a catastrophic injury 9/7/13 against Illinois, the injury was so severe Legaux himself said; “He had doubts of returning for a quick second”. Just 370 days after one of his most difficult trails, Legaux was able to take the field during the Bearcats season opener. All the talk will be about our “Golden Arm” quarterback Gunner Kiel and rightfully so, but it is awesome to see Legaux be healthy enough to play football again.

Legaux entered the game late in the 2nd quarter with the Bearcats up 41-14, to lead a 2 minute drive. The drive didn’t produce any points, but he went 4 of 5 for 18 yards through the air and had one rushing attempt for 5 yards.

After seeing the Rockets get to within 10 points in the 2nd half, it seemed the timing of Legaux’s entrance might’ve been premature, but after hearing Coach Tuberville say it was a part of the plan because of his quarterback’s hard work you can understand why he made the move. After hearing how Kiel gushed over Munchie’s hard work and being a calming influence leading up to his first game it made this story such a classy one in my eyes.

Welcome back, Munchie your hard work is truly a sight to see. #BearcatNation salutes you.
