Wrapping Up Week 5 For Cincinnati’s 2014 Football Opponents

Week 5 is in the books with the Cincinnati Bearcats reeling from their beatdown at the hands of Ohio State, UC looks forward to the Memphis Tigers at 7 pm on CBS Sports Net. Let’s see how all of their future opponents performed.

Memphis: L, 24-3 vs. Ole Miss

The box score wouldn’t show it but the Tigers are a better football team this season. It’s just a shame they could muster a little over 100 yards of total offense against the Rebels. Realistically, Memphis barely had a punchers chance on Saturday but you’d think they’d go out swinging.

Miami (FL): W, 22-10 vs. Duke

The Hurricanes looked much better on defense last week against a strong Duke offense. Miami held a Blue Devils team that was averaging 492 yards per game to just 264 on Saturday. Running back Duke Johnson also looks to be getting into a rhythm as he reeled off 155 yards, 6.2 per carry, and a touchdown on the ground. The Hurricanes are starting to put the pieces together in anticipation of Cincinnati coming to town next week.

SMU: L, 58-0 vs. TCU

South Florida: L, 27-10 vs. Wisconsin

Despite the 17-point loss, the Bulls played perhaps their best game of the season against a tough Badgers team on the road. The game was actually tied 3-3 at halftime with South Florida’s defense playing outside their mind. But Wisconsin leaned on USF in the second half and the Bulls didn’t have enough firepower to keep up. It was a valiant effort, though.

Tulane: L, 31-6 vs. Rutgers

East Carolina: BYE

UConn: L, 36-10 vs. Temple

The Huskies are a hot mess. They can’t pass the ball, they’re only a hair better in the run game, and the defense looks uninspired. Bob Diaco has a load of work up in Storrs.

Temple: W, 36-10 vs. UConn

Everything above, except the opposite.

Houston: BYE
