Cincinnati Bearcats Game Against SMU Will Kickoff At 3:30 On CBS Sports Net

We’re 12 days away from Cincinnati’s game against the SMU Mustangs on October 18th and the kickoff time and network have been revealed.

The Bearcats will visit Dallas for the first time in the school’s history. UC of course hosted the Mustangs and edged them out in the friendly confines of Nippert Stadium last season. As of now I’m not certain the Bearcats can repeat that performance at Gerald J. Ford Stadium in two weeks.

But that’s a post for a different day.

As far as the kickoff time, it appears Cincinnati has avoided another nooner. Four of UC’s games have been played at night this season with just one, Miami (FL), at 12 pm. That’s certainly helped funnel attention to the Bearcats this year, both in and out of Cincinnati, even though the team’s performance on the field can’t say the same.

Noon home games hurt attendance and that’s especially the case for students who are asked to make the trek downtown before kickoff as opposed to walk across campus to Nippert Stadium. Additionally UC is fighting against several other games that start at 12 pm as opposed to the lesser competition in the afternoon and evening. So I’m please that the conference and networks are accommodating to Cincinnati in this manner.

However, I’m not as encouraged about this game’s slotting on the CBS Sports Network. But it is what it is. Unfortunately, with the American Athletic Conference’s media contract with ESPN, which partitions several games to CBSSN, we’ll just have to grit through the teeth-grindingly awful analyses of their commentators.
