Nippert Stadium Construction Update: October 8th, 2014

This month’s video update on the Nippert Stadium renovations and expansion, the home of Cincinnati Bearcats football from 2015 onward, has been released. Once again, Tom Gelehrter caught up with project manager Bob Marton to cover off on the latest happenings at the construction site.

Stray Observations

  • The shot from the South lounge is spectacular. Those of you with big enough wallets are going to have one heck of a view of the game.
  • Bob Marton is a beer drinker. That’s a good thing.
  • As far as the infrastructure of the press box is concerned, it looks like the steel portion is nearly complete with the pouring of concrete the next major step in the process. Unfortunately, unlike when laying steel and I probably don’t need to tell you this, the crew’s ability to pour concrete is determined on how dry it is.
  • The press box is set to get even taller with steel for the 500 level to be laid within the next month.
  • If you’ve walked through the site over the last few weeks you probably noticed that the East concourse has been gated off. This portion of the renovation isn’t as flashy as the one occurring across the field but equally as important. Workers will begin tearing down the old concession stands in the next couple of weeks to expand the concourse and add more concessions and restrooms on this side. Again, it’s an effort to improve the experience for all fans, not just the ones who are shelling out hundreds of thousands of dollars for private suites to thumb their noses down at us normies (I’m not bitter).
