Construction on the Nippert Stadium expansion and renovations continue with Tom Gelehrter and project manager Bob Marton providing another update on the progress.

Stray Observations

  • Love #HardHatWednesday
  • The 500 level, the tallest on the press box, along with the roof are finally going in. The shot from the 0:45 mark to the 0:50 mark shows the progress made on this portion, which at this point looks as long as the old press box. You really get a feel for the size of the old vs. the new building with the amount of steel that’s already been erected. It’s amazing just how much longer the structure will be once the renovations are complete.
  • Concrete and steel work continues with the crew putting the final pieces in for the 500 level through November. That will effectively finalize all of the steel that will be going into the new press box.
  • From 3pm to 1 am, second shifters are putting a fireproof coating on the steel. Should be ready to go in case Cincinnati hosts West Virginia sometime in the near future.
  • November will also see the construction crew begin their work on the interior of the new press box. Up until this point they’ve been building up infrastructure. From next month on, they’ll really be focusing on the inside and bringing the press box to life.
  • Nice shot of the new concession stands. Waiting in 30 minute lines to get a single beer will be a thing of the past!
  • Tommy and Bobby will meet again in three weeks, which hopefully will yield another fruitful update.
