The Cincinnati Bearcats football team is effectively halfway through their 2014 season. Two-thirds, technically, with UC having played eight games. But those eight games have been squished into about a month and a half of play with another two or so to go depending on bowl placement.
So I’m going with that, marking November 7th as the midpoint of the 2014 football season.
As this team approaches a much needed bye weekend tomorrow, we as fans have a chance to reminisce about the current state of the Bearcats. Overall they have performed well. At 5-3 and 3-1 in the AAC, Cincinnati is in a five-way tie for first place in the conference. That’s definitely encouraging. But in some regards this team has performed below expectations, with bludgeonings at the hands of Ohio State, Memphis, and Miami (FL) taking the wind out of our sails.
Still, there’s plenty to be excited about with this team, as several players and position groups have stepped up in a number of ways.
