Bearcats BlogCast: Let’s Fast Forward To UC Basketball

We’re back in the new year with a brand new blogcast between myself and Scott King (@cardscott5) who writes about Cincinnati for Bearcats Blog (@BearcatsBlog).

There’s been quite a bit of happenings since the last podcast when we previewed UC’s Military Bowl opponent, the Virginia Tech Hokies. It seems like ages since that episode and the blasting the Bearcats took at the hands of the Fightin’ Frank Beamers. Plus during that time co-defensive coordinator bolted for Nebraska and the basketball team finally showed signs that Mick Cronin wasn’t blowing smoke before the season began.

So we talked about all of that. Here’s a full rundown of topics.

  • Brief, brief Military Bowl recap
  • Hank Hughes and where does UC go from here at defensive coordinator
  • National championship preview
  • But mainly we talked basketball and the source of this winning streak
  • How awesome Octavius Ellis, Gary Clark, and Coreontae DeBerry have been
  • The importance of the front court’s dominance on the back court’s performance
  • Disappointment of Jermaine Sanders and relative growth of Shaq Thomas
  • Previewing UConn and how UC contains Ryan Boatright and Amida Brimah

As always, you can listen to it via the media player below but feel free to subscribe to our podcast on iTunes. We’re also up on Stitcher. We’d love for you to rate and comment on it. Next week we’ll get together with Matt Opper at Down the Drive to wrap up the 2014 football season round table style, picking a most valuable player, most improved player, best play, etc. We hope you tune in for that!
