Cincinnati Bearcats Recruiting: Receiver Braxton Neal Signs With UC

Wide receiver Braxton Neal has officially signed with the Cincinnati Bearcats for their 2015 recruiting class.

Here’s a snippet from his full recruiting profile.

OVERVIEW

Braxton Neal boasts intriguing measurables for an outside receiver. At 6’4″, he has the height and leaping ability of a big time playmaker who can climb the ladder to reel in passes. That’s the innate advantage he possesses over shorter defensive backs. Additionally his long legs allow him to glide on the turf when he does have the ball in his hands. Neal’s long strides allow him to get upfield seemingly effortlessly and chew up yards in a flash. He could use a little more improvement in his run blocking, continuing to drive while positioning his hands on the defender on the inside. That will give him the best leverage. Otherwise, Neal is a solid prospect who could develop into a nice collegiate receiver down the road.

OUTLOOK

Neal is a tall receiver ideal for a spot near the sideline. That’s good news for purely out-jumping smaller defenders. But he’s extremely lanky and could use another 15-20 lbs of muscle to absorb the hits he’ll take in tight man-to-man coverage at the line of scrimmage. Therefore I think a redshirt is in Neal’s future when he comes to Cincinnati.
