Here’s Where Cincinnati’s Coaches Are Recruiting

Spring practices, done. Spring game, over. 2015 signees, not around for another 2 months.

With Cincinnati’s coaches in a bit of a holding period, and instead twiddling their thumbs for better or worse, they’ve hit the recruiting trail to continue building the program for the years to come.

It’s unclear if this map is accurate to the point that the coach Tuberville’s sent to what looks like Jackson, Mississippi is in fact combing the Jackson area and not venturing further South or North. Still, infographics are fun and this one is particularly interesting.

Not unexpectedly most of the coaches are focusing their efforts around the Cincinnati area. The grounds within a 50 mile radius of UC is rich with Division 1 prospects and should be a key for every football coach that collects a paycheck from this school. Plus, quite frankly, the Tuberville staff has stinks with grabbing local talent so the more boots on the ground the better.

Also of note are the two coaches in the Northeast Ohio area. My guess would be co-defensive coordinator Robert Prunty, if we’re going off of the state partition from when Tuberville first arrived. Like with Cincinnati, Cleveland has some of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the Midwest and flat out ignoring the area, with schools like Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Penn State barely lifting a finger to grab recruits here, would be unwise.

Then there’s the Mississippi region. As the saying goes (or should go), if a recruit’s in SEC country, he’s worth looking in to. That’s served Tuberville well during his time at Cincinnati (Mike Boone) and is a philosophy that will continue to fuel the Bearcats’ football program. I’d be curious if new defensive tackles coach Kenny Ingram, who has strong ties to nearby Memphis and Alabama and probably spent more than a sleepless night in Mississippi, was tasked with this area.
