Football Opener TV Info And Other Scheduling Notes
Several items of note this week on the football schedule front for the 2015:
- The American has announced TV info for some games that were previously “TBA.” Included in the recent announcement is news that the Bearcats’ Sept. 5 home opener in the newly renovated Nippert Stadium will not be televised on broadcast or cable TV at this point. You’ll only be able to get a first look at Nippert and see UC take on Alabama A&M on ESPN3.com. Perhaps FOX Sports Ohio will pick up the game regionally – we can only hope. But then again, if you’re in town, why not buy a ticket anyway? Rudy’s dad agrees that being in the stadium is far superior to watching on TV.
- The conference has also announced time of the inaugural AAC championship game. The game will be held at Noon on Championship Saturday (December 5, 2015) at the home stadium of the division champion with the best conference record, and will be televised on either ESPN or ABC. Could UC host the game at Nippert? The Bearcats have been picked as favorites to win the East Division by several media outlets. The road game at Memphis on September 24 will be a must-win, or else Memphis, a West Division front-runner, would hold the tie-breaker and host the title game at the Liberty Bowl.
Dates for AAC Bowl Game tie-ins are also starting to be announced – mark your calendars accordingly:
- Cure Bowl (Orlando), Dec. 19.
- Miami Beach Bowl, Dec. 21.
- Boca Raton Bowl, Dec. 22.
- Hawai’i Bowl, Dec. 24

- Peach Bowl (Atlanta), Dec. 31.
