Apparently UC Is Hosting The French National Football Team

In a bit of surprise news (I guess that’s what makes it news), the University of Cincinnati is apparently hosting the French National Football Team as they prepare for the IFAF World Championships.

I’m mostly surprised considering the way I heard about it was through Twitter, with the help of friend of the blog Nick Colosimo. This is pretty cool stuff, that UC is hosting practices of a national football team from all the way in Europe. The French could have picked pretty much anywhere, Paul Brown Stadium or Indianapolis for example, but they landed at UC. You’d think there would be some kind of announcement, press release, or even a tweet from someone within the Bearcats’ athletic department about this. Maybe I just missed it.

Either way, I find this very awesome.

The French are only practicing at the Sheakley Athletics Center, not playing their game there. All IFAF World Championship games will be played in Canton, Ohio, the birthplace of American football. Still, I’d be curious if Tommy Tuberville or Gunner Kiel have made their way out to the practice facility to give them some pointers in anticipation of their opening round match against Brazil on July 9th. If the French wind up going for it on 4th and 2 from inside their 50 yard line, we know the Ol’ Gunslinger had a hand in it.
