Bearcats Receive A Vote In 2015 Preseason Coaches Poll
By Chris Bains
The 2015 preseason coaches poll was released this afternoon, yet another indication that we’re right around the corner from the best time of the year. Good riddance, baseball.
Even more encouraging is that the Cincinnati Bearcats got a little publicity by receiving a vote in the first poll of the 2015 football season. It’s not much but it’s better than nothing (hi, Memphis!) and they’re not lower than any other AAC team (hi, Memphis!).
But what was certainly a shot in the gut is the sheer number of teams ahead of them in the rankings, in particular other Group of Five schools climbing over one another for the illustrious Access Bowl spot. Boise State leads the way followed by Air Force, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Utah State, BYU (although they don’t have Access Bowl.. err.. access), and Georgia [freaking] Southern. Then you have Central Florida and UC tied with a vote a piece, good for 52nd.
Things will obviously change this Fall. Cincinnati’s not going to be looking up at Georgia Southern forever. But you never really know with Boise State, who are already in the top 25, as well as Marshall. We’ll just have to wait and see how the season plays out. Hopefully the Bearcats are flying above the pack come mid-December.
Here’s where all the relevant teams to UC fans stand.
