We are really starting to get close now. 30 days until Nippert’s grand re-opening against Alabama A&M. Tommy G. and Bob Marten are back with a look at some of the final touches being completed in preparation for the big night on September 5.
Here are the highlights:
- Ring of Red – Those red seat covers that will insulate every single seat in the lower bowl now encompass about two-thirds of those seats.
- Ribbon Boards are now connected to power and fully operational.
- Progress on interior electrical, plumbing, and painting work has progressed to the point that construction offices have been moved into the new press box from modular trailers.
- On the exterior of the new West Pavilion, painting and sealing is in progress, while carpet is being laid inside.
- Suites and press areas are beginning to be fitted with electronics.
- Concession equipment is being tested and installed.
- Bearcat Plaza looks absolutely fantastic. The workers have done a brilliant job reconstructing it almost exactly as it was – except for the new restrooms and concessions underneath it, of course.
- Fences will come down and the concourses will re-open to the student body on April 24, the first day of classes in the Fall semester.
