2016 Point Guard Quentin Jackson Has UC Bearcats In Top 5

Cincinnati Bearcats point guard target in the 2016 recruiting class Quentin Jackson has UC among his top five schools.

UC is still very much in the market for another guard in the upcoming cycle.

Mick Cronin went out and snagged four star shooting guard Jarron Cumberland a month ago. The prolific scorer should provide Cincinnati some off-the-ball pop that UC’s been missing since Sean Kilpatrick, despite the void being filled to an extent by Farad Cobb. But after the upcoming season Cobb will be gone and both Troy Caupain and Kevin Johnson will be seniors.

Sure, by that time Justin Jenifer and Jacob Evans will be hitting their stride as second year players but Cincinnati will need long term depth. They’ll need an infusion of youth to spell them come two, three, and four years down the road. Depth is what separates the good programs from the great programs and the great programs from the elites. UC is ready to take that next step and landing a point guard like Jackson would go a long way to accomplishing just that.

Reviewing his top five I’m not sure how the Bearcats with their prestigious history and recent renewed success don’t stand out as a cut above the rest. If it’s an issue of playing time, again, Cincinnati is building depth and knows how to leverage it. Mick Cronin will regularly run an eight-to-nine player rotation if he can. Jackson could certain fit into that rotation as early as his second year in red and black.

So it remains to be seen if UC will land the 6’4″ guard. We certainly can’t tell what’s bouncing around in his head but I have to like the Bearcats’ chances at this point.
