Tommy Tuberville Alabama A&M Week Press Conference Notes
By Chris Bains
The Cincinnati Bearcats kick off their 2015 season against FCS Alabama A&M this Saturday at 7 pm. As our weekly ritual of prepping for the game, here is the full press conference from Tommy Tuberville, who was joined by Gunner Kiel this time.
STRAY OBSERVATIONS
- Tommy Sniffles: 1111
- He spent the first few minutes lauding renovated Nippert Stadium and the vision of top-notch athletic facilities that were kicked off by Bob Goin, continued by Whit Babcock, and brought into reality by Mike Bohn.
- Tuberville’s 45 second analysis of Alabama A&M was this: they have a quarterback problem, UC’s defense has to prepare for a lot of different possibilities, game one is essentially more about how the Bearcats have practiced and prepared over the last few weeks than anything. And that was about it. Moving on, then!
- He rated Gunner Kiel a C/C+ performance from last season. Ouch!
- Tuberville on the defense: “we were bad”. He doesn’t mince words but he believes Cincinnati is more talented and deeper defensively in 2015. They just don’t have a lot of experience.
- Sticking with the defense, he mentioned that last year UC had only 15-17 players who could handle the rigors of major college football. This season the Bearcats have 25. That’s basically a full two deep and exactly where you want your program to be.
- I’m liking Tuberville’s confidence in the defense, and they have looked great in Fall camp, but they’re guilty until proven innocent on that field.
- “This defense will only get better from here because of the youth that we have and their athletic ability.”
- Every week, Tuberville will show the uniform combination Cincinnati will be wearing that week. Not just the players, but the coaches. Unigeeks, rejoice!
- Gunner Kiel’s humble brag is on maximum efficiency.
