The Cincinnati Bearcats are ranked 31st with 43 votes in the 2015-16 preseason Coaches Poll that was released today. LOLWUT.
How UC found themselves outside of the top 25 in the Coaches Poll I have no idea but one thing I know is that this further proves how utterly absurd this poll is.
Need the coaches be reminded about what exactly Cincinnati returns from a NCAA Tournament team that advanced to the third round last season?
- Eight upperclassmen, four of which are starters.
- AAC All-Rookie Team member Gary Clark, also a starter.
- 83% of their scoring and 85% of their rebounding.
- A head coach in his tenth season at the helm having guided the Bearcats to the Big Dance each of the last five years.
Ok, technically Larry Davis stepped in for Cronin last season but he had as many hands involved in the team as any season. Still, the fact that UC made it to the NCAA Tournament, won a game, did so with an assistant head coach on the sidelines and return most of their contributors this season along with their actual head coach should earn them a preseason top 25 ranking.
