UC Bearcats In The NFL: Regular Season Week 11

Several Cincinnati Bearcats were back in action this past week with only a few, John Hughes (Browns) and Isaiah Pead (Steelers), absent due to their team’s bye week. But here’s an update from those former players who did see action.

Derek Wolfe: A critical instrument to victory now that Peyton Manning is out, considering Denver’s offense is bound to go flat, the Broncos’ hybrid defensive tackle/end had a strong performance. His four tackles were the 4th most on the team and he even nabbed a sack of Jay Culter in addition to his two tackles for loss. He’ll have to play a big part on defense to guide Denver to victory.

Trent Cole: Indianapolis’ veteran defensive end grabbed three tackles on Sunday and even hit Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan.

Brent Celek: The Eagles’ tight end had an exceptional game albeit in a losing effort against the Tampa Bay Bucs. The nine-year vet led all Philly receivers in catches with seven on Sunday, hauling them in for 79 yards, which also led the team. Perhaps the old guy has a few years left in him.

Connor Barwin: Philadelphia’s defensive end finished second on the team in tackles this week with six, including a tackle for loss. He also knocked down a pair of passes and hit Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston twice.

Travis Kelce: A rather quiet game from the Kansas City tight end, with him catch just five of his team-leading seven targets for 46 yards. The Chiefs did blow out the Chargers, though, 33-3 so it wasn’t all bad.

Kevin Huber: The Bengals offense didn’t struggle against Arizona’s typically stout defense but the former UC punter got in plenty of work, booting five punts for an average of 48.6 yards per with a long of 57. Per us’ for ol’ Golden Toe.
