Bearcats BlogCast: Hawaii Bowl Briefview, Looming Crosstown Shootout

Today on the Bearcats BlogCast, Scott and I didn’t really get into an array of topics like we usually do. Nope, the bulk of the podcast was devoted to two topics top of mind for UC fans; the Hawaii Bowl against San Diego State and tomorrow’s Crosstown Shootout.

Sure we delved into a few random talking points, as these tend to trail off into the unintelligent and bizarre, but I’d say like 92% of the podcast focused around those two topics. But here’s the full rundown in case you’re interested (you’re not):

  • A quick review of San Diego State’s season – Is their 10-3 record reflective of a strong team or are their close wins over bad opponents such as Fresno State and Hawaii closer to reality?
  • The danger of the Aztecs’ two-headed monster at running back against Cincinnati’s very suspect defense.
  • Also Cincinnati’s turnover prone offense against San Diego State’s ball-hawking secondary.
  • The destination itself, great for fans, players, and coaches who make the trek to Hawaii, bad for everyone else.
  • Moved right along to the Crosstown Shootout, the 1st in two decades where both teams were ranked.
  • Evaluating just how similar Cincinnati and Xavier truly are and how it makes for a great game whether you root for either school or not.
  • Eventually I got depressed for talking about the brutal losses to the Musketeers lately and we moved right along to the coaching carousel in the AAC and the strange situation at East Carolina.
  • Our predictions for the College Football Playoff (SPOILER. We both think Clemens and Oklahoma suck).

And that was an hour and a half! As always, you can listen via the media player below but feel free to subscribe to our podcast on iTunes. Or you can listen via the media player below.
