And your trashy UT fan of the day award goes to.. this guy:
And here’s something else for you to get riled up about before the game on Saturday.
Every fanbase has them including Cincinnati, but if I’m a Volunteer fan I would be embarrassed by both of these people, one of which is a self-proclaimed ‘writer’ for a Knoxville newspaper. All I can do is laugh at both of them. Let’s get to the Roll Out:
Bearcats Football Videos
UC’s S&C in the spotlight here. Great stuff. But the host sounds like he works for NPR. Also it looks like J.K. Schaffer curls the same amount of weight as me. He seems to do it with much more ease, though.
Coach Notes: Austin Peay – Some good behind the scenes input from the coaches before the AP game
Bearcats Football 2011 – Just another compilation of clips to get you jacked up about this season
Looking Back at Camp Higher Ground – The players might not admit it, but I bet they miss CHG just a little bit

Q&A with Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin
With football starting up, it’s easy to forget the kind of season Cincinnati basketball had in 2010-11 and how high their ceiling is heading into this season. With six seniors gone, Cronin is looking to his vets Gates, Dixon, Jackson, Wright, Kilpatrick, and Parker to provide guidance to the incoming freshman and JUCO Cheihk Mbodji. The latter has college level experience but he will have to learn Mick Cronin’s system and guys like Gates and Jackson can help him along the way. This year’s team is a great blend of untested talent and veteran experience that, if used properly, should cause fits for opposing teams this season.
Great news for the Bearcats as Travis Kelce is expected to return for the Tennessee game this Saturday. The injury news from 2010 to 2011 is night and day. It seemed like last year, news was constantly coming out about another injured Bearcat. This year, more and more players are rejoining the team from injury. For Cincinnati, this could be interesting for the ‘Bearcat’ formation which is UC’s version of the Wildcat. Luallen is pencilled in as the leader of those plays but Kelce ran pretty well in 2009 when Brian Kelly used him along the goalline. It will be interesting to see which of them will earn that spot this season.
Butch Jones’ Tuesday Press Conference wrap up from Down the Drive and Bearcat Lair.
I think Butch knows that Cincinnati’s game against Austin Peay last week was a great way to shake of the rust from the long offseason but it really didn’t show the college football world much about his team. I was encouraged as they put their foot on the gas from the opening kickoff and didn’t stop until the final whistle blew at the end of the fourth quarter. That intensity level and effort was surely missed last season and wasn’t something we saw out of the Bearcats since 2009. The upcoming game against the Volunteers should show Bearcats fans exactly what this team is made of. You can see the full presser here.

BEast News
The Huskies are going to have long season if they don’t figure out who’s going to be their starter quickly. UConn can lean on their massive offensive line and their running backs for games against Fordham but when the opponents get tougher, they’ll eventually going to have to pass the ball. Teams won’t exactly be afraid of a quarterback that knows they could get replaced at any moment by two other guys if they aren’t getting the job done. We’ll see how the Huskies’ season progresses but they’ll be behind the 8-ball in this league if they can’t name a starting signal caller.
DubV tatts- Marshall’s #21 with a WVU tattoo?
Yup. On his right tricep. Sounds like he’s not seeing much playing time for the Herd.

A&M acceptance to SEC contingent on waiver of litigation
While the Big XII has waived it’s right to sue the SEC for inviting Texas A&M, the other nine Big XII schools could individually sue the conference for the invite. If so, the SEC could then withdraw its vote to admit the Aggies. I’m not sure if any of the Big XII should execute that right to sue the conference as they might hamper their hopes of drawing an invite themselves. It’s a crazy world we live in.
Iowa State retains legal rights to block Texas A&M departure
..and that’s exactly what’s happening. Iowa State (and reportedly also Baylor) did not waive their right and are permitted to sue the SEC. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise because the likely destination of Iowa State is either Mountain West or Conference USA, if the Big East doesn’t bite on them (and remember, the Big East can be picky). While they are one of the smaller programs in the Big XII, they still get a good payday from the media contract and have the benefit of Oklahoma and Texas coming to campus every other year. For Baylor, they might find a home in the Big East because of very good academics and a solid basketball program. If not, it’s the Mountain West more than likely. So it’s to both of these university’s benefits to see the Big XII remain intact.
