Collaros embraces role as hometown hero

Just a phenomenal story about Zach Collaros’ journey up through through the high school becoming the pride of football-crazed Steubenville, Ohio. Plus there’s a few pics of him of little Zach in the pee wees.

Thomas can practice but not play

This essentially tags him with a redshirt for this season. It sounds like a bad thing but it really isn’t. While Thomas was arguably the highest rated member of the 2011 recruiting class, he was in real need of tacking on some muscle to his slender frame. A year to focus on that in the weight room should really benefit him when he takes the court in redshirt freshman year, hopefully much like Sean Kilpatrick did. Plus his redshirt helps even out the class so Mick won’t be forced to sign 5 players every four years.

Notre Dame’s football independence now at risk – Not really. The Irish would rather see the Big East implode and stick their non-football teams in the A-10 or Horizon league than play Big East football.
