Opening Statement

  • Did not mention the Rutgers game specifically here – Interesting
  • Typical coach speak the first few minutes
  • He did say that Syracuse is very physical, and they certainly are especially on defense
  • Need better pass protection and getting off the field on third down

Q & A

  • It is a different team from last year, but there is an edge of maturity and leadership on this team.
  • The team is prideful after losing to Syracuse last year at home. Want to exact some revenge in their house.
  • UC’s receivers need to win their one-on-one matchups and also not make mental mistakes like not catching the ball. This HAS to change this Saturday for Munchie or whoever is QB to feel comfortable in the pocket.
  • Mentioned the receivers’ mistakes more than a few times.
  • The players are missing the details and the little things – Broken record for two years now.
  • Pead was inhibited by poor blocking. Well duh! The OL was putrid on running plays.
  • A little apologetic for Munchie’s performance considering they played the #1 defense in the Big East. Unfortunately things don’t get much better against Syracuse.
  • Munchie has the physical tools (clearly) but he needs to mature both physically and mentally. Jones sees him, Luallen, and Kay maturing in practice. It’s about translating that to games.
  • Butch just went all technical on the last question, talking about the precision between QB and WR on passing plays. Pretty sure no one in the press core understood what he was talking about.
